Every September, communities across the nation come together to raise awareness about suicide prevention and to break the stigma around mental health struggles. At Boyd, we believe it’s important to shine a light on this critical issue, share resources, and remind our community that help is always available.
BeThe1To, which highlights simple, evidence-based steps we can all take to support someone who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts. These steps empower each of us to make a difference:
Ask – Directly ask someone if they’re thinking about suicide. It shows you care and opens the door for honest conversation.
Be There – Being present can reduce feelings of isolation and increase hope.
Keep Them Safe – If someone is at risk, work with them to limit access to harmful means.
Help Them Connect – Guide them toward resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, local counselors, or support groups.
Follow Up – A simple call or text after your first conversation shows continued care and can make a big impact.
These steps can save lives.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.
This month — and every month — let’s commit to being present, offering support, and spreading hope. 💙
