Position: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Location: Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital
Salary Range: $24 - $27 per hour
Full-time: Monday-Friday with rotating Saturdays
Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a vital member of our rehabilitation team, providing treatments and procedures under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role supports patient recovery through hands-on care, clear documentation, and active collaboration with patients, families, and care teams. The PTA will work across inpatient/Swing Bed, outpatient, and home health settings to help improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function. Strong communication, adaptability, and a patient-centered mindset are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities

Perform modalities as prescribed by the Physical Therapist including, ultrasound, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, moist heat, cervical traction, and pelvic traction, cold packs, electrotherapy, myotrac, hydrotherapy and TENS.

Performs therapeutic techniques including massage, deep friction scar massage, PROM stretching, joint mobilizations, and PNF.

Performs gait and transfer training to patients, patient families, and other employees as indicated.

Supervises and instructs patients in AROM, AAROM and PREs programs established by the Physical Therapist and/or physician’s protocol.

Performs all duties in courteous professional manner in respecting patient rights and confidentiality.

Protects patient records, safeguarding charts and ensuring confidentiality.

Accurately records information into patient charts on daily reports and progress reports to physicians.

Documents all vital information regarding treatment, orders and phone calls into patient records.

Complete thorough and concise progress reports to physicians in a timely fashion.

Answers telephone in a professional manner.

Deliver messages, fax, mail and/or telephone calls to patients, physician offices and insurance companies and documents accordingly.

Always maintains a professional work atmosphere.

Adheres to Compliance Program.

Assist in developing and presentation of Back School to all employees of the hospital.

Calculate stats accurately and present to appropriate personnel by the 5th of every month.

The position will be for inpatient/Swing Bed, home health and outpatient.

Qualifications

Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program

1 year PTA experience preferred

Passing score on the State Board Test after college graduation

Twenty (20) CEU's every two years as required by licensure.
